The Sky has moved again. In a hillside village too small to be kind to strange things, a boy of fifteen years feels the warmth wake within him at the very hour the heavens do. He has been told he is no one in particular. He has begun to suspect otherwise.
Four are waking. The Veil thins. And in the dark beyond the Veil, a patient thing that has pressed against the world since the Fracture finds the seam beginning to yield.
And the boy goes forth from the only home he has known. Kindred to Le Guin, Hobb, and Susanna Clarke — a literary fantasy.
A name is not the same thing as knowledge, any more than a map is the same thing as the land it describes.
